YOUTH PROFESSIONAL ENSEMBLE

Youth Professional Ensemble is an audition-only, educational offering for advanced students who are looking to strengthen their performance skills from top professionals in the industry. Each session includes intensive training in vocal, dance, and acting techniques. Keep an eye out on our mainstage, where many of our Youth Professionals are featured!

Ben Armstrong

Ben Armstrong is 14 years old and currently home schooled. His most recent roles include Oz: A Staged Musical (Dance Corps) Junie B. Jones: The Musical (Herb), and Mary Poppins Jr. (Bert) at Virginia Children’s Theatre and You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown (Schroeder) at Patrick Henry Community College. Ben would like to thank Brett and Brynn for all their support. Upcoming Virginia Children’s Theatre Roles: Lucas Beineke, The Addams Family Musical; Prince Topher, Roger and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.

Grace Eakin

is 16 years old and lives in rural New Castle, VA. She has enjoyed working with the Roanoke and now Virginia Children’s Theatre for over 7 years. Thanks to the professional instruction and support of the Children’s Theatre team, Grace has enjoyed growing professionally while having immense fun with this amazing team of young professionals. Her recent credentials include The Fakes, Jack and the Wonder Beans, Songs of the Past, Mary Poppins Jr., and Junie B. Jones: The Musical. Grace would like to extend many thanks to the cast and crew of these many fine productions.

Jai Isaac

is an aspiring actor/director/screenwriter who is currently attending Virginia Western, with plans to transfer to Virginia Commonwealth University to major in cinema. She’s always loved being onstage, but ultimately wants to be an onscreen actress. Her favorite credits include Oz: A Staged Concert (Dance Corps) with Virginia Children’s Theatre. She also has a passion for music and hopes to release an album soon. Upcoming Virginia Children’s Theatre Credits: Ancestor, The Addams Family Musical Ensemble, Roger and Hammerstein’s Cinderella

Anna Locklear

is a 15 year old homeschooler, who lives on a farm, in Franklin County. She is honored to be this year’s Sarabeth Hammond Scholarship recipient. Her favorite credits include Oz: A Staged Musical (Dance Corps), Mary Poppin’s Jr. (Mrs. Brill), Songs of the Past: A VCT Concert, Aladdin Jr. (Genie), and Frozen (Elsa). She would like to thank her friends, family and the LORD her Savior. Upcoming Virginia Children’s Theatre Roles: Ancestor, The Addams Family Musical Cinderella, Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.

Mikayla Parker

Mikayla is a junior. She was most recently seen in Virginia Children’s Theatre’s production of Junie B Jones: The Musical. Some of her favorite credits are Matilda (Matilda u/s, Amanda), Willy Wonka Jr. (Charlie), A Simple Gift (Liza), The Christmas Cup (Little M), and Songs of The Past Concert: A VCT Concert. Film Credits: Cotton Clouds (Mamie). She is a member of VCT's Young Professional Ensemble and has also studied with Mill Mountain Theatre. Jack Plogger

is a senior this year at Patrick Henry High School. He has enjoyed playing many leading roles in PH theatre and is the President of the PH players. He also enjoys making music and he plays 7 instruments including piano, guitar, ukulele, trumpet, saxophone, drums, and bass. Upcoming Roles at Virginia Children’s Theatre: Mal Beineke, The Addams Family Musical Lord Pinkleton, Roger’s and Hammerstein’s Cinderella

Ann Marie Thorell

is a junior at Hidden Valley High School. Her favorite regional productions include Matilda, Annie, Junie B. Jones: The Musical (Virginia Children’s Theatre) and Romeo and Juliet (Mill Mountain Theatre). Ann Marie is thrilled to be a member of the Youth Professional Ensemble at VCT and the Music Theatre/ Dance Conservatory at Mill Mountain Theatre. She is also a student of the Kevin Jones Performing Arts Studio. Ann Marie is so grateful to VCT for this opportunity! Lilah Vanke

is thrilled to be a part of YPE! She was most recently seen in Oz: A Staged Musical (Munchkin Mother) with Virginia Children’s Theatre, The Drowsy Chaperone (Kitty) and The Hunchback of Notre Dame (gypsy/ensemble) at Patrick Henry High School. She dedicates her performance to her family and friends for supporting her in all of her pursuits.

Charles Meidlinger

Charles Meidlinger is stoked to be a part of Virginia Children’s Theatre's Youth Professional Ensemble! He is a seventeen-year-old actor who is planning to study performing arts after high school. Favorite credits include Romeo and Juliet (Friar Lawrence) The Drowsy Chaperone (George) and Willy Wonka Jr. (Augustus Gloop). Thanks to Mollye, Kaitlin, and Brynn for all the incredible work they've put in for us and this program!
