Welcome to Virginia Children’s Theatre!
We are elated to celebrate our 15TH SEASON of award-winning, professional children’s theatre with you this year! As we enter a new season, you, our families and patrons are at the forefront. We are here to provide memorable experiences for everyone! Each and every day it is our goal to be accessible and equitable to all of our students, patrons, partners and families - regardless of our differences we strive every day to make a place for everyone and celebrate what brings us together!

We bring you a season of top-notch broadway-style musicals, concerts, issue-driven plays and all youth productions! Each season, VCT brings in a myriad of out-of-town professional directors, choreographers, designers, musicians and actors to provide high caliber theatre for the Valley and beyond! This fall, we invite you to unlock your imagination with the classic and beloved tale of The Secret Garden. Brought to life through stunning and mesmerizing melodies, this timeless tale is proof that there is power in love, hope and dreams. For the holiday season, we bring you a “tale as old as time.” The classic and enchanting Beauty and the Beast will delight audiences and capture the attention of the whole family in this spellbinding story.

Based on a true story, our 2023 VCT4TEENS production, Lift Every Voice, explores the impact of racism in an urban high school. VCT4TEENS is a program that provides a unique and creative approach to connecting with young people about current issues through a theatre arts experience. VCT looks forward to welcoming a diverse company of BIPOC actors, director, and panelists from local nonprofits and agencies in the region. For our annual KIDS ON STAGE, Spring Break Production, we invite you to join us for a scrumdidilyumptious musical guaranteed to delight everyone's sweet tooth. Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka, Jr. will feature an entire cast made up of youth actors.

Rounding out the season is our spring mainstage and touring production, full of unique comedy, over the top characters, a clever set and fashionable costumes through Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach; and our annual summer concert in Elmwood Park, A Whole New World: A Celebration of Disney! We invite school groups throughout the region to join us for student matinees for all of our mainstage productions, to experience live, professional theatre at discounted student rates.

Come join our theatre academy this season to unleash your creativity, gain new theatre skills (and life skills!) or hone your craft. We offer year-round, high-quality music, theatre and dance instruction for students Pre-K through 12th grade. Check out our website for a full listing of fall classes and camps. We are thrilled to welcome Luke Reed as our newly appointed Director of Education, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise in direction, stage combat, shakespearean acting, performance, playwriting, composition, technical theatre and many other facets of the theatre realm!

VCT outreach and tours are ever growing and we are thrilled to introduce Bethany Costello (Education Outreach Coordinator) and Laura Rawlings (Group Sales Manager) to our team - visit our website for more specific details on how you can bring VCT to your community!

Thank you for choosing VCT as YOUR professional children’s theatre! Please visit us online and through our social media - Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, LinkedIn, and Tik-Tok for regular updates and year-round opportunities. We look forward to seeing you at the theatre this fall!
