Launched in 2009, VCT4TEENS is a proven expanded arts education program that focuses on relevant and challenging social issues for teens. Each VCT4TEENS performance is accompanied by youth education and outreach workshops that connect students to agency health professionals addressing the issues at hand in talkback sessions, and take-away community resource materials that give young people the tools they need to reach out when in crisis.

Evaluations conducted since 2011 show significant statistical change in behavior and perception of risk for young people participating in VCT4TEENS; our past project efforts have been recognized by the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, MADD, The New York Times, and by Roanoke City Public Schools. VCT has created collaborative project partnerships with PCRC, RAYSAC, YOVASO, Roanoke City and County Public Schools, Family Service of Roanoke Valley, Carilion Clinic, Lewis Gale Medical Center, Roanoke City Fire/EMS, Roanoke City Police Department, Mental Health America of Roanoke Valley, and local health professionals.
